What more can you ask for, than all this fine food and entertainment?!

Last Month, Motion Skatepark in Bristol hosted a one of a kind event entitled “HogJam”. The one day event included A BMX jam including pro and amateur competitions, live graffiti, B-boys and DJ sets all day and night, not to mention a mouth watering Hog Roast!!

Our lovely Fran caught up with Mitch Yeates, who was the main instigator and chief organiser of HogJam.

How long have you been organizing Hogjam for?

I started organizing HogJam at the start of the month, a pretty tight deadline but we had the date set as it was Tom’s birthday. Which was also the inspiration for the name Hogjam.

How did you think the day went?

It went well, I was pleased with the turn out especially as it was my first event. I think the lack of time was a big issue in putting the event together not only for planning the event but also in letting people know it was happening. It was a great great learning experience and there a lot of things I feel I can do better next time.

What’s your background bike wise?

I’ve been riding BMX for about 10 years now. In 2005 I joined Simple BMX and I also ride for Duffs.

What are your plans for the future and hogfest?

We are holding the NASS Pre party at Motion so i will run a bmx contest on that day but it will probably have a new name.

To keep track of future events or to get in touch with Mitch, head on over to Motion Skatepark site

The latest collaborative offering from Johnny Cupcakes Suitcase Tour

Johnny Cupcakes x Friends With You

UPDATED! Miami stop of the Johnny Cupcakes Suitcase Tour

Now this makes sense. When a big time killer brand like Johnny Cupcakes collaborates with cute design sensation Friends With You, you know it’s going to be special. What’s even better is this is a super limited edition run of 50 tees! Each numbered on the actual tee itself. It’s ONLY available on the Miami stop of the Johnny Cupcakes Suitcase Tour, which is reminiscent of Johnny’s old hardcore band days when he was selling tees out of his suitcases as he travelled from venue to venue…

Here’s Johnny explaining it all himself…

DIY design awards, made by the people for the people. It’s the future!

Working Class Awards 2010

Now this is something I have a lot of time for, hardworking people, giving up their time and energy to pay homage to good work. DIY mentality and a total grassroots approach.

It’s not too late to enter still, although the deadline is TODAY! So get entering your best work from last year. It’s quick and easy to to submit your work. ENTER HERE

A bit about the WCA awards

The Working Class Awards are the combined brainchild of @Monsieurcabinet and @Tigzy, who decided to put their Twitter ranting to good use and launch their own awards scheme within the creative industry to promote free entry to competitions within the design industry.

The Working Class Awards is a self-acclaimed NAFF-TA for the art industry, with the aim of giving creatives a chance to get themselves seen in the industry without having to pay the ridiculous fees associated to get there. Being young creatives ourselves, we can’t give you an internship or another fancy prize, but there will be a coveted trophy and of course the chance to get your work seen by some of the most well-respected creatives in the industry, which is of course what the awards are all about. The awards are about bringing creativity back to the masses, with no limitations on previous financial success to hold back entries and so we can once again focus on the underdogs of creativity rather than corporate image.
