Forget all that media hype. Are you really afraid of Swine Flu?
As of July 6, WHO officially listed 94,512 laboratory-confirmed cases including 429 fatalities. On June 25, the CDC estimated that 1 million Americans had so far contracted the H1N1 swine flu, noting that it generally produces mild illness with a fairly quick recovery. By comparison, an estimated 15 million to 60 million Americans are infected with the seasonal flu each year, leading to roughly 36,000 deaths.
Isn’t it just an over reaction to sell papers?

I’m not really concerned for myself, hopefully my body’s strong enough to fight it off if it’s just a mild illness. I wouldn’t like to be a carrier and pass it onto anyone young or elderly though. I think it’s pretty bad that people only consider being properly hygenic when they think they’re going to pass on ‘bad’ germs.

Is it not better to be safe than sorry? We live in culture where we don’t anything until it’s too late, then blame people when it goes wrong.
I’m happy for the media to tell us about it, as long as they are being transparent about the issue.

To be honest, I’m not sure which side I sit on any more. I used to think that it was all crap, and the media, (especially the BBC who seem to love this stuff), where making it up and spinning it out of control. However, with the imminent arrival of my first sprog, I’m starting to change a lot of my views on things. So what if they create a story. So what if they produced too much vaccine.
Do know what you mean about the germs though. Too many well educated people I know still cough and sneeze without covering their mouth. Bring back national service I say. Oh god, I am actually getting old!
