All non organic tees, even if the final manufacturers are ethical get their cotton from large pools of cotton which come from all sorts of farms and regions, with vastly varying levels of government support, personal protection, aggricultural regulations, chemical company/governmental exploitation etc. the further you look into the cotton industry the worse it gets.

Thats why organically grown cotton (and other fabrics) are the only way to know that the farmers work in healthy sustainable conditions, they are paid fairly for their crop, the whole supply chain is traceable and there was a minimum impact of the enviroment throughout the supply chain.
